Magnetic encoders - how do they work?
Contactless encoders, also called angle sensors, are based on Hall's effect - Magnetic transducer, which is integrated with an electronic system.  The sensor and the rotation magnet measures the angle position.

Advantages of magnetic encoders
  • Effectively and stable construction.
  • No battery, gearing, simple construction - lower costs, sizes, and saving space.
  • Contactless work - do not cause outwearing or increasing the costs of maintenance and servicing.
  • Resistant to external disruptions.
  • The precision of measurements.
Applications of contactless magnetic encoders
  • General engineering - precise positioning and measuring of speed in mechanical engineering.
  • Mobile devices.
  • Vehicles and wheel/track machines.
  • Applications in harsh conditions e.g. dusts or liquids, extreme temperatures, vibrations, and shocks.
  • Wind turbines - controlling the angle of the turbines in wind power plants, monitoring gondolas (azimuth).
