EXIT for Zone 1 and Zone 21 / EXIT 2 for Zone 2 and Zone 22 Molded plastic version with LED technology
The EXIT series of explosion-proof escape route luminaires meets the requirements of the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and the EN 60598 standard, Section 2.22 for emergency lighting luminaires. These luminaires are suitable for marking escape routes and exits in hazardous areas.
These luminaires use exclusively white, high-efficiency LEDs as light sources. This guarantees maintenance-free operation, as the LEDs do not require replacement throughout the luminaire's service life. The power supply electronics are also designed for the same service life; LED circuits are inherently safe. A wide input voltage range allows for international use. The housing of these luminaires is made of high-quality polycarbonate: these exit signs meet the latest standards. Thanks to their robust construction and high degree of protection, these luminaires are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. As an emergency luminaire with a built-in battery system for continuous operation, the EXIT N and EXIT 2 N models are equipped with an NC battery and a runtime monitoring and test function. The optional built-in V-CG-S monitoring module with a coding switch for up to 20 addresses allows this luminaire to be used as an individually monitored emergency luminaire connected to the central CEAG power supply system. This allows the user to program the switching mode according to specific requirements. This means that up to 20 luminaires with different switching modes can be connected to a single circuit.
The "EXIT" series signal luminaires are available as "EXIT" and "EXIT 2" main luminaires, e.g., for specially protected industrial networks in production plants, as: "EXIT V-CG-S" and "EXIT 2 V-CG-S" – emergency luminaires with individual function monitoring, for use in CEAG emergency power supply systems, and as "EXIT N" and "EXIT 2 N" – luminaires with a built-in battery system and automatic test function and runtime tests.
Thanks to its robust polycarbonate housing and high IP66 protection rating, the EXIT luminaire can be installed almost anywhere – indoors and outdoors. The luminaire is designed to meet the Ex e m ib IIC T6 or T6 and Ex tb IIIC T80°C protection class requirements of the ATEX directive. It can be used in areas with potentially explosive gases (Zones 1 and 2) and in areas with explosive dust (Zones 21 and 22). The EXIT 2 series is designed for areas with potentially explosive gases (Zone 2) and dust (Zone 22).
The EXIT series of explosion-proof luminaires meets the requirements of the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and EN 60598, Part 2.22 for emergency lighting luminaires. The housing is made of high-quality polycarbonate, and the exit signs meet the latest standards.
LED technology allows for operation without the need to replace the light source. The required lighting values for the exit signs are maintained throughout the LEDs' service life – up to 50,000 hours. The power supply is also designed for long life. This reduces operating costs and significantly increases safety, especially in difficult-to-access locations.
EXIT signal luminaires are designed to meet the requirements of various safety concepts worldwide. Thanks to their wide input voltage range (from 110 V to 277 V AC and up to 250 V DC), the luminaire can be used internationally, as the LED circuits are inherently safe. The international "IECEx" certification further expands the luminaire's application possibilities. The luminaire has a visibility range of 25 meters, and a wide range of pictograms is available, allowing for easy adaptation to national regulations.
When it comes to the operational safety of explosion-proof and emergency signaling systems, there's no room for compromise. A luminaire that is fully functional at all times can save lives. The new EXIT LED explosion-proof luminaire series meets not only the highest explosion-proof requirements but also the regulations for emergency lighting and safety. The new EXIT can always show the right path – even in complex and poorly planned industrial installations in hazardous areas.
CEAG's central emergency power supply system and central battery systems are used where a large number of emergency luminaires need to be connected and operated as system luminaires. Battery systems are typically installed outside hazardous areas, protecting them from harsh environmental conditions. As a result, they have longer operating times and minimal maintenance requirements. Emergency luminaires are powered by separate circuits from the emergency power supply system to emergency exit luminaires installed in hazardous areas. Various luminaires with the V-CG-S function can operate in these circuits.
In addition to the EXIT/EXIT 2 models as master luminaires (e.g., for secured industrial networks), the EXIT V-CG-S / EXIT 2 V-CG-S version is also available with simple function monitoring. Combined with the V-CG-S monitoring module and a coding switch (up to 20 addresses), this luminaire can be used as an emergency luminaire with individual function monitoring. Users can program the switching mode to suit their needs, allowing up to 20 luminaires with different switching modes to be connected to a single circuit. No additional wiring is required. The central control unit monitors all functions in the luminaire, checking for short circuits and open circuits, and errors are displayed on the screen. Even with complex installations, diagnosing and troubleshooting is easy. Another significant advantage: all functional and time tests are automatically performed and recorded by the central control unit. This saves time and eliminates errors. Furthermore, the luminaire's correct operation is monitored by the built-in V-CG-S module, and any faults are automatically reported to the control center – for example, the failure of a group of LEDs is automatically signaled.
Emergency luminaires with built-in battery systems provide the required emergency lighting from a decentralized source, independent of central systems. They are particularly economical when used in large facilities. Previously, compared to centrally controlled and monitored installations, the disadvantage of such luminaires was that they did not provide any information about their technical condition. However, a monitoring function has been integrated into EXIT N / EXIT 2 N luminaires. Five green LEDs indicate the charge status and available battery capacity. A yellow LED indicates the emergency lighting function is active, and an additional red LED indicates faults.
Extended self-monitoring functions with an automatic function test and a partial runtime test are now available. Five green LEDs provide continuous information about the charge status and current battery capacity. Charging is indicated by a flashing green LED. The charge level is displayed in six steps (0–100%). A yellow LED indicates the emergency lighting function is active. An automatic 15-minute function test is performed weekly. For this purpose, the luminaire automatically switches from mains to battery mode. The emergency lighting function is then tested, and any faults are indicated by a flashing red LED. After approximately three months, a partial functional test (35 minutes) is automatically initiated. If the minimum emergency operation time (30 minutes) is not reached, this is indicated by a flashing red LED. Once the fault has been rectified – for example, by charging or replacing the battery – the indicator is reset the next time the emergency function is activated (manual or automatic) when the minimum operating time > 30 minutes is reached.
