Lapp Company was established in 1959 by Oskar and Ursula Ida Lapp, because of their creation of the ÖLFLEX control cable. 

The company is a global leader in their specialty, and they provide products like cables, connectors, and accessories, as well as solutions for many industries and applications, such as production machinery, industrial robots, public transport, food processing, alternative energy, charging systems for electric vehicles, oil drilling platforms. What’s more, their products were used in places like stage machinery used by the Rolling Stones and the new opera house in Pekin, ancient monuments and modern departure lounges, container cranes, and the largest wind turbines in the world, but also in everyday life products.

Lapp’s assortment offers products and technology brands such as ÖLFLEX power and control cables, UNITRONIC and ETHERLINE data communication systems, HITRONIC optical transmission systems, EPIC industrial connectors, SKINTOP cable glands, SILVYN protective cable conduit systems, FLEXIMARK cable marking products, and many additional accessories. 

All products can be applied in industries like industrial communication, e-mobility, energy supply, industry 4.0, food industry, lighting and sound, photovoltaics, wind power, rail, and infrastructure.

Lapp operates in compliance with RoHS - directive that decreases the allowed limit of hazardous substances in the electronic and electric devices (EEE) sold in the European Union; and REACH - that aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment through the better and earlier identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances.

The company also takes action towards the protection of the environment and runs a cable waste recycling service in ISO 9001 certified centers. 

They also try to produce environmentally-sustainable materials eg. halogen-free to reduce toxicity and enable recycling. Moreover, all products are asbestos and CFC-free, and Lapp tries to avoid lead as well. They also developed an environmentally-friendly product called ÖLFLEX NATUR.
