Light and Sound Signaling for Explosion Hazard Areas Ex
Among many models of signal devices, we also offer light, sound, and light-sound signalers for explosion hazard areas, in various standards – Atex, IECEx, CCC Ex, UL, ULC, INMETRO, etc.
The most popular are signalers intended for Atex zone 2 and 22. However, devices for zone 1 and 21 are also available.
The group of light signalers includes single-color signalers, which are available with a light source in the form of LED diodes, Ba15d bulbs, or xenon flash bulbs. They come in a impact-resistant, flameproof Exd housing, often with a protective grid to safeguard the lens from mechanical damage. They are available in voltage versions of 12, 24, 48, and 120 and 240 V AC/DC. They generate light in many modes: flashing, strobe, rotating, or randomly selected, which makes the light more visible to the operator. Additionally, it is possible to use double or triple flashes.
Ex light signalers are also available as multi-module signal towers, dedicated for use in zones 2 and 22, with a high degree of protection IP65, and explosion protection provided by an intrinsically safe housing. The maximum number of LED modules is 5. Signal towers are available in two diameters, 40mm and 60mm, and are mounted to a vertical surface using an angled bracket. There is also the option of using a sound module with four selectable sounds, with sound levels of 85 dB and 88 dB – for the 60mm diameter version.
Sound signalers intended for Ex zones include mechanical sirens, electronic sirens, buzzers, and industrial bells. Their application is mainly for zones 2 and 22 as well as 1 and 21. They come in two versions, differing in bell size (diameters 165 mm and 215 mm), while the sound level is the same for both types – 100 dB. Electronic sirens allow the selection of sound from 32 different tones at various frequencies, enabling the choice of an appropriate sound depending on the acoustic background at the installation site.
The sound level of electronic sirens is very high, reaching up to 110 dB, while the EHV-Ex series allows the playback of messages in MP3 files, with smooth adjustment of the generated sound level.
Mechanical sirens are not as versatile, because due to the heating of the motor during operation, they can be used continuously for a maximum of only 2 minutes, after which they must cool down for 15 minutes. However, they are very loud, generating a sound of 97 dB at a frequency of 1600 Hz, making them suitable for some specific applications.
Devices combining the functions of light and sound signalers are the previously mentioned signal towers with a sound module and light-sound signalers. Their application includes zones 2 and 22. The LKEH-EX series signaler has adjustable sound with a maximum intensity of 110 dB and the ability to play voice messages from MP3 files.
