Wirewound Power Resistors from DACPOL
We offer adjustable and fixed wirewound resistors designed for various applications. Our assortment also includes wirewound, film, high-voltage, thick-film resistors, and resistors with steel resistive elements.
What is a wirewound resistor?
Wirewound power resistors are resistors made of resistive material in the form of a tape or wire wound on an insulating body, usually ceramic. We offer resistors in the range from 56mΩ to 200kΩ, and power from 2 W to 1 kW. Additionally, we offer wirewound resistors in an aluminum housing, which achieve their rated parameters after installation on a suitable heatsink. A wirewound resistor can be used to load devices with continuous or slowly varying characteristics, but they are not useful for pulsed loads. There are also types of wirewound resistors in aluminum housings that are water-cooled, as well as specially wound non-inductive versions. Wirewound power resistors are used in braking electric motors, discharging capacitor banks, in power engineering devices as well as in power electronics: power supplies, inverters, and rectifiers.
