Products that are marked "On Order" in the "Available Quantity" column are usually not in stock. Such products are available for purchase, however, due to their limited customer base, they usually have higher minimum quantities. DACPOL offers products that are not in stock for the following reasons: DACPOL currently has a large number of electronic components in stock and adds new products every day, however, tens of thousands of additional components and their various variants are available from our suppliers. Even though it is unreasonable to have all these products in stock due to the limited sales, we believe that it is in the best interest of our customers to make them available. Our goal is to inform customers about the maximum number of products available and enable them to make decisions based on specifications, prices, availability, required minimums and our technical advice. Please note that selecting the "In Stock" checkbox may limit the display to only products available for delivery straight from the shelf.

Thyristor is a controlled semiconductor device that switches from blocking to conducting state when a short control pulse is applied to the gate.

In DACPOL's offer, we provide the following types of thyristors:

  • standard thyristors
  • fast thyristors
  • asymmetric thyristors

Standard thyristors are suitable for building converters operating at mains frequency of 50Hz. They can be used in controlled rectifiers, power regulators, and soft starters.

Fast Thyristors

Fast thyristors, also known as impulse thyristors, feature short turn-on time, high resistance to steep current rise, and short turn-off time.

They are used in current and voltage inverters, as well as in DC drive converters and induction heating.

Asymmetric Thyristors

Asymmetric thyristors are characterized by low reverse voltage and blocking voltage comparable to other types of thyristors. They are mainly used in traction drive converters.

Thyristors are offered in two package types: stud and disc, of various sizes. They are mounted on heatsinks appropriately sized for the power losses generated in the thyristor during current conduction. When mounting thyristors, a thin layer of thermal paste should be applied to their casing to improve heat transfer to the heatsink.

Stud-type thyristors should be screwed to the heatsink so that their bases make full surface contact. Disc-type thyristors are cooled by heatsinks clamped directly to the disc. Proper pressure is ensured by a specially designed clamp with a force control indicator.

Thyristors - Protection

Thyristors require protection against short circuits and commutation overvoltages. Only fast-acting fuses specifically designed for protecting diodes and thyristors can be used for short-circuit protection. To protect thyristors against overvoltages, RC snubbers, varistors, and special semiconductor components connected between the gate and anode, such as type BOD, are used.
