Water-cooled heat sinks in the form of cooling plates are intended for cooling diodes, thyristors, and power transistors in flat-base housings. Various other components and electronic devices with flat bases can also be mounted on the plates. The cooling plates can be made of copper or aluminum. They may be solid plates with internal hollow channels or repetitive elements with channels connected together.

Water-cooled heat sinks

Heat sinks are used to dissipate thermal energy generated in a power semiconductor device during current flow into the environment. For this purpose, heat sink constructions cooled by air or water are used. Water-cooled heat sinks are plates with internal hollow channels filled with a cooling agent.

Applications of water-cooled heat sinks:

• electronics and mechanical devices;
• components with very high thermal loads;
• as a cooler for Peltier cells (modules for heating or cooling components);
• automotive sector – cooling of charging modules in electric vehicles;
• diodes;
• transistors and thyristors – when devices generate excessive heat and the housing cannot dissipate it.
