Cable Glands for Special Applications

Cable glands are used for electrical connections of devices in explosion hazardous areas. They are used to connect a flameproof enclosure with an enclosure of another protection type according to the DIN EN 60079-0 standard. It is also possible to connect two flameproof enclosures. Regardless of the application, the cables remain protected against direct contact with the hazardous atmosphere. Depending on the design, EX cable glands can be used in intrinsically safe applications, instrumentation, as well as control or power systems.

If the cable glands do not contain cables, they can be used as plugs for EX d type flameproof enclosures to seal holes and threads. In case of later expansion of the installation, it is possible to replace the plugs with standard cable entries.
