Powerex was founded in 1986 and is a combination of two pioneers in the power semiconductor industry - the Power Semiconductor Divisions of General Electric Company and the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Additionally, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation established an equity in Powerex Company and is an equal shareholder. Another Powerex’s partner is General Electric - Powerex functions there as a JV brand.

Powerex also is the owner of ISO 9001 certificate. 

Powerex is located in Pennsylvania, US, and is an expert in developing custom modules and silicon carbide technology, assemblies, and is a leading producer of discrete devices, modules and integrated high power semiconductor solutions. They manufacture rectifiers and thyristors, IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors), HV IGBTs, custom power modules and assemblies.
