What is a rotary switch?

Rotary switches are used to open or close electrical connections. They ensure an electrically conductive connection or disconnection between the voltage source and the electrical load. The rotary switch also allows the switching contacts to be operated via a shaft by turning it left or right.

Applications of rotary switches:

  • electrical/electronic installations;
  • switching machines between modes;
  • washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, ovens;
  • instruments (e.g., guitars) for professional and amateur use.
