High-quality diodes for various applications
A diode is a non-controlled semiconductor device in which the conduction or blocking state depends on the polarity of the voltage applied between the anode and cathode.

Rectifier diode
Rectifier diodes from Lamina offered by DACPOL are available in a wide range, from surface-mount and through-hole diodes in electronic circuits, through screw and push-in package diodes, to disc package diodes.
Push-in diode
Push-in diodes are used in welding rectifiers and alternator rectifiers. Screw package diodes are used in various power electronics devices and lower power rectifiers.
Disc diode
Disc diodes are used in high-power devices such as electrolytic rectifiers and rectifiers on production lines (e.g., chlorine), galvanic rectifiers, welding machines, induction heating generators, drive inverters, etc.
Fast diode
Fast diodes are used in circuits with higher operating frequencies (compared to mains frequency) such as: DC traction drive converters, induction heating generators, high-power inverters, converters.
Ultra-fast diode and Schottky diode
Ultra-fast diodes and Schottky diodes feature low junction capacitance and very short recovery time. They are used in circuits operating at high signal processing frequencies, e.g., RF converters.
Avalanche diode
Avalanche diodes are resistant to overvoltage and are used in medium-power devices where other diodes with typical overvoltage protection cannot be used.
Surge protection diode
Surge protection diodes are used to protect other semiconductor elements in electronic circuits.
High-voltage diode
High-voltage diodes are built from stacks of diode structures placed in a single package. Their low current rating results from limited heat dissipation during conduction. They are used in high-voltage devices such as HV power supplies and low-power HV rectifiers.
Welding / spot welding diodes
Welding/spot welding diodes are semiconductor elements designed for high currents and low voltages. Their voltage range varies between 200 V and 600 V, and the designed currents range from 4000 A, 7100 A, 9200 A, 10500 A, 12000 A, 13500 A, 16000 A, to 18000 A.
These diodes are used in welders, medium-frequency spot welders, and seam welders.
Protection of diodes against short circuits and surges in power electronics circuits
Only fast fuses should be used for diode short-circuit protection. These are specially designed fuses with current ratings matched to the diode and blow very quickly in case of a short circuit. To protect diodes against commutation surges, RC surge suppressors should be used. The parameters of the surge suppressor components are chosen so that the surge voltage on the diode is limited to a safe value.
Surface-mount diodes should be installed only with specialized equipment according to the manufacturer's recommendations. This ensures proper mounting quality and device reliability. Disc diodes and screw package diodes require mounting on heat sinks to dissipate heat generated during operation. The heat sink surface in contact with the diode should be smooth, without edges, and covered with special thermal paste. The paste eliminates minor irregularities in the contact between the diode and heat sink, improving cooling.
Screw package diodes should be screwed in so that their leads are fully pressed against the heat sink. Disc diodes are mounted in sets of 2 heat sinks for double-sided cooling and a clamp. The sets are adapted to the diode size.
When mounting disc diodes, attention should be paid to the correct pressure of the heat sinks on the disc. The pressure is adjusted by appropriately tightening the clamp screws while monitoring the position of the pressure indicator.
