High-quality diodes for various applications
A diode is a non-controlled semiconductor device in which the conduction or blocking state depends on the polarity of the voltage applied between the anode and cathode.
In its wide semiconductor range, Dacpol offers diodes for various applications from renowned manufacturers. Our store's offer includes: rectifier diodes, fast diodes, ultra-fast diodes, Schottky diodes, avalanche diodes, surge protection diodes, high-voltage diodes.
Rectifier diode
Rectifier diodes from Lamina are offered by DACPOL in a wide assortment ranging from surface-mount and through-hole diodes for electronic circuits, through screw and press-fit package diodes to disc package diodes.
Press-fit diode
Press-fit diodes are used in welding rectifiers and alternator rectifiers. Diodes in screw packages are used in various power electronic devices and lower power rectifiers.
Disc diode
Disc diodes are used in high-power devices such as electrolytic rectifiers and rectifiers on production lines for example chlorine production, galvanic rectifiers, welders, induction heating generators, drive inverters, etc.
Fast diode
Fast diodes are used in circuits with increased operating frequency (compared to the mains frequency) such as: DC traction drive converters, induction heating generators, high-power inverters, converters.
Ultra-fast diode and Schottky diode
Ultra-fast diodes and Schottky diodes are characterized by low junction capacitance and very short recovery time of blocking properties. They are used in circuits operating at high signal processing frequencies, e.g. RF converters.
Avalanche diode
Avalanche diodes are surge-resistant and used in medium-power devices where other diodes with typical surge protection cannot be used.
Surge protection diode
Surge protection diodes are used to protect other semiconductor components in electronic circuits.
High-voltage diode
High-voltage diodes are constructed from a stack of diode structures placed in one package. The low current rating of these diodes results from limited heat dissipation capabilities during current conduction. They are used in high-voltage devices such as high-voltage power supplies and low-power high-voltage rectifiers.
Welding / spot-welding diodes
Welding/spot-welding diodes are semiconductor elements designed for high current and low voltages. While their voltage range varies between 200 V and 600 V, the currents for which they are designed range from 4000 A, 7100 A, 9200 A, 10500 A, 12000 A, 13500 A, 16000 A to 18000 A.
These diodes are used in welders, medium-frequency spot welders, seam welders.
Protection of diodes against short circuits and surges in power electronic systems
For diode short-circuit protection, only fast fuses should be used. These are specially designed fuses with current ratings matched to diode current ratings and that blow very quickly after a short circuit occurs. To protect diodes against commutation surges, RC snubbers should be used. The snubber components' parameters are chosen so that the surge on the diode is limited to a safe level.
For surface mounting of diodes, only specialized equipment should be used following the manufacturer's recommendations. Only in this way can good mounting quality and thus device reliability be guaranteed. Disc diodes and diodes in screw packages require mounting on heat sinks that dissipate heat generated during operation. The heat sink surface contacting the diode should be smooth, without edges, and coated with a special thermal conductive paste. The paste eliminates minor unevenness between the diode and heat sink, improving the diode's cooling properties.
Diodes in screw packages should be screwed in so that their terminals are pressed with their entire surface against the heat sink. Disc diodes are mounted with a set of 2 heat sinks for double-sided cooling and a clamp. Sets are matched to the diode sizes.
When mounting disc diodes, attention should be paid to the appropriate clamping force of the heat sinks on the disc. The clamping force is adjusted by properly tightening the clamp screws, monitoring the force indicator position.
