What is a frequency inverter used for?

A frequency inverter is a power electronics device used to convert direct current and voltage into alternating current (DC/AC). Inverters are used to power adjustable speed drives (ASD), flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS), static VAR compensators (SVC), active filters (AF), and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).

We offer Omron frequency inverters: VZ1000, J1000, MX2 series, and RX series.

Photovoltaic inverter – also known as an inverter or frequency converter. When properly selected, it can significantly increase the efficiency of solar panels, while an incorrect one often becomes the cause of malfunctions.

The inverter is an essential component of a photovoltaic installation – it looks like a box and is responsible for converting direct current into alternating current, so that it can be delivered to electrical sockets.

Types of inverters:

  • Off-grid inverters – do not have the capability to synchronize with the grid, as all electricity not used by the household is directed to batteries. Mainly used to power household devices or charge batteries.
  • On-grid inverters – work in cooperation with the electrical grid. They do not support battery charging.
  • Hybrid inverters – can work with the grid and also store surplus energy in batteries.

We also distinguish:

  • Single-phase inverters – mainly used in small installations up to 3 kW;
  • Three-phase inverters – used in more powerful photovoltaic systems.
