The current injector is one of the most versatile devices in this product family. Coupled with the G5100A or another similar function generator, it can transmit signals up to 40 MHz, with very steep rising and falling edges. Using the G5100A also allows for adjustment of these edges and the waveform. This allows for interoperability with a wide variety of circuit types, including fast digital circuits.
The current injector can also be used to measure the output impedance of power supplies, voltage regulators, power rails, and even batteries. Another example of use is the non-invasive measurement of the stability of a combined input filter and the negative resistance of a switched-mode power supply. The J2111B also has applications in transistor measurement and data extraction, including small-signal current gain, Ft, and many other dynamic performance parameters.
In RF and measurement systems, the J2111B can be used to provide constant current bias for Class A amplifiers and buffers.
