Directional silicone wires - Series of covers S

1.8 DIRECTIONAL SILICONE WIRES - S GUARD SERIES

Description:

Our range of directional silicone wires combines excellent environmental protection with high shielding effectiveness. These products contain a matrix of vertically oriented wires that penetrate both flat surfaces of the elastomer and provide approximately 100 contact points per square centimeter. Materials containing variants with solid silicone (SP Covers), sponge silicone (SS Covers), as well as fluorosilicone (FS Covers), sponge fire-retardant silicone (SG Covers), and solid fire-retardant silicone (SR Covers) are produced in sheet or strip form and are typically factory-made and cut into sealing profiles to customer specifications.

Application:

Directional wires in silicone are probably the most versatile sealing materials. All variants offer good environmental protection and are regularly used where long life and high durability of solid seals are needed. Due to the more difficult nature of the material and because it requires a high closing force through a relatively rigid cover that is attached with screws at regular intervals, it is generally not suitable for door seals or other applications where regular opening and closing occurs. A possible exception is the sponge silicone variant.
They are typically supplied in the form of a gasket, tape, or sheet with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that maintains the gasket in the absence of a groove or channel. If a groove is available, the gasket form is often an O-ring connection without an adhesive backing.
Because directional elastomeric wires are wider than they are tall, when specifying the wire size, the thickness should first be specified, as this will be the length of the embedded wires. Then, if the height must be greater than the width (e.g., to fit a groove), there will be no doubt as to the customer's actual needs.
Special attention should be paid to the design of gaskets to ensure that covers or doors do not deform during compression. It is often necessary to incorporate stops in gaskets to prevent overcompression. The material should be compressed by approximately 15% of its loose height. Contact us for technical advice.

SS-A-0032-1520-N/ This is a 3.2 mm thick x 152 mm wide Sponge Silicone with Aluminum Wire, without adhesive.
DIRECTIONAL WIRES IN SILICONE - SE SERIES
Description:
Wire-free widths can be ordered with the material cross-section having wires along one edge or along both edges without any wires in the middle. This provides a pressure seal and EMI shielding in one piece, but reduces the compressive force required to fit the seal. Dual material (Duo) variants can also provide the benefits of a fluorosilicone gasket with the economic efficiency of regular silicone by bonding the fluoro-edge wire-free to a standard sheet or tape during the molding process. The manufactured seals have a wire-free, contamination-resistant outer edge, suitable for applications where loose wires can cause problems when the seals are exposed to solvents or hydrocarbons, which can soften and swell.
