What is telemetry?
Telemetry is a field of telecommunications that deals with transmitting measurement data to a central unit using radio systems, the Internet, modems, and cellular networks, so that it can later be used for process analysis or event notification. The operation of a telemetry system is as follows: telemetry modules send data between objects and the supervisory-control station. The data can be used for statistical purposes or for controlling industrial automation.
What are the tasks of telemetry systems?
Modern telemetry systems perform the following functions:
- record measurement results,
- calculate average values and provide parameters related to accuracy,
- develop measurement indicators, define and organize indicators,
- generate signals related to regulation and warning,
- provide data on current values in the system.
What types of telemetry systems are there?
