Explosion-proof IP camera with ATEX, IECEx, and EAC-Ex certifications

In addition to European regulations (ATEX), the ExCam series is also certified in accordance with international regulations (IECEx) as well as the Russian Customs Union (EAC-Ex). The enclosures are certified for ATEX Group I (Mining) with low mechanical hazard risk and ATEX Group II (Gas and Dust) for Zones 1, 2, 21, and 22, including Explosion Groups IIC/IIIC with high mechanical hazard risk. Furthermore, certification can be extended to various markets at any time. For example, in South Africa, this has already been achieved with MASC (Mining and Surface Certification).

During the development of the ExCam IPQ1615, a clear emphasis was placed on safety aspects, as well as mechanical precision and high-quality stainless steel. Furthermore, the modular design of the housing components prior to camera development allows for the free combination of individual housing components, such as various flanges, with the housing body – without any restrictions on explosion protection.

When it comes to technical parameters, we have pushed the boundaries of what is feasible: in terms of media resistance and ambient temperature, the ExCam series sets the standard.

Media Resistance and Seals

Thanks to high-quality materials, the T07 series meets the requirements of an extensive list of media resistances! The specially designed flat GYLON (PTFE) seal not only ensures the housing's waterproofness (IP68) but also supports resistance to many chemicals. Extremely durable, scratch-resistant, and impact-resistant borosilicate glass perfectly complements the high-quality materials of the housing body.

Temperatures

The permissible ambient temperature range of the ExCam IPQ1615 camera starts at -60°C and goes up to +60°C (+130°C with an additional cooling accessory). This wide temperature range is possible thanks to our dual PTC ceramic heaters. They keep the camera ice-free even at -60°C, while also preventing it from overheating at higher ambient temperatures. To ensure safe operation even in high ambient temperatures, we equip the cameras with high-power, high-temperature primary cells that enable battery charging.

Artificial Intelligence Meets Camera

Cameras have long ceased to be used for purely video surveillance. Due to constantly improving processors and the associated camera performance, decentralized image evaluation tasks can now also be performed directly on the camera—so-called on-edge solutions. The main advantage of this camera-based evaluation is reduced bandwidth consumption, as the actual analysis is performed on the camera using raw data, and only metadata needs to be transmitted. This means that events can be responded to almost in real time. For more information on this topic, see the technical report on artificial intelligence (Report-AI-at-hazardous-areas.pdf)

Deep learning and machine learning offer the following possibilities:

Motion detection has long been capable of detecting people or vehicles in certain areas. However, the error rate, for example, due to shadows or objects, was relatively high, and the detected motion could not be classified. Thanks to the new ExCam IPQ1615 technology (intelligent algorithms and a processor enabling Deep Learning), it is possible to distinguish a person from a car in an image. Object analysis has advanced to the point of distinguishing between passenger cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Object analysis is important, for example, in situations where a person might enter a hazardous area where a machine is moving. Such an incident should be recognized and reported.

Another application for edge-based analysis: Live Privacy Shield

Dynamic privacy masking is possible thanks to this new technology. Moving people or objects can be dynamically masked in live or recorded video in real time. Scenes can now be masked based on motion at a speed of 10 frames per second. This ensures privacy protection.

Lower installation costs and power over Ethernet (PoE)

A special feature of the ExCam IPQ1615 is that data and power are transmitted over a single cable, meaning only a PoE switch or PoE midspan is required for installation in a secure area.

Small form factor - great resolution (HD)

Measurements of only 310 mm long and 113 mm in diameter make the ExCam IPQ1615 smaller than some security camera models, but with more advanced features. Thanks to progressive scan, the ExCam IPQ1615 can produce high-resolution images of moving objects at up to 120 frames per second: no motion blur! The ExCam IPQ1615 camera delivers sharp images in HD resolution (2 MP).

Remote Zoom and Remote Focus

The ExCam IPQ1615 camera is equipped with a remote zoom and remote focus lens. The biggest challenge with cameras with a varifocal lens is the need to open and close the housing to adjust the viewing angle. This is not necessary with the ExCam! All adjustments can be made electronically. The housing does not need to be opened! This reduces installation effort to a minimum, which is especially important in hazardous areas. The camera's mechanical pixel count can ensure that the pixel resolution of the object meets legal or customer requirements.

Unmatched Light Sensitivity

The ExCam IPQ1615 camera delivers razor-sharp images in any lighting condition. With 2MP resolution at 120 fps, a 1/2.8" sensor, and Lightfinder technology, the camera captures more light than ever before, providing exceptional image usability even in low light conditions. The camera also offers Forensic WDR, which ensures perfect balance in scenes with significant lighting differences, and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS).

Day/Night Function

The ExCam IPQ1615 features a day/night function, making it particularly suitable for use outdoors or in low-light environments. When brightness drops below a certain level, the camera automatically switches to night mode to capture high-quality black and white images using infrared light. Infrared light with a wavelength of 780 to approximately 1000 nanometers cannot be perceived by the human eye, but the ExCam IPQ1615's image sensor can recognize and utilize this light. light.

High Image Quality

In video surveillance systems, high image quality is essential to clearly identify people or objects involved. Thanks to progressive scan and megapixel technology, the ExCam IPQ1615 offers significantly better image quality and higher resolution than any analog CCTV camera. Furthermore, it is much easier to ensure image quality over an IP network than over an analog system.

Easy, Secure, and Robust Integration

Network video products based on open standards can be easily integrated with video management and application software.
