Medium-voltage current transformers (SN) – what you should know
Medium-voltage current transformers (SN) are specialized devices used in medium-voltage power networks for measuring currents and voltages, as well as powering measuring instruments and protection circuits of power equipment. We distinguish indoor medium-voltage current transformers, designed for installation in SN switchgear, and outdoor current transformers used on transmission lines. These transformers work together with medium-voltage voltage transformers, forming complete measurement and protection systems.
An indoor current transformer allows for precise current measurement on the primary side, transferring a proportional value to the secondary circuit, which enables the control of protective devices. These devices have a specified accuracy class and rated voltage (kV), ensuring safe operation in medium-voltage networks. The transformer core and resin insulation guarantee durability and stable operation in typical protection applications.
SN transformers are used for both measurement purposes and energy billing, as well as for powering meters, measuring instruments, and protection circuits. A single-phase indoor current transformer can be used in transformer, protection, and measurement systems, working with devices such as KPB Intra or other power equipment. Medium-voltage current transformers allow for reliable control in networks at rated voltage, ensuring network safety and reliability.
In typical installations, medium-voltage current transformers (SN) are used to monitor currents and voltages in transformers, transmission lines, and protection systems, ensuring measurement accuracy and stability in the operation of power equipment. They enable effective calibration, protection circuit monitoring, and powering of indoor voltage transformers and other measuring instruments in medium-voltage networks.
SVA100 Current Transformer
The SVA100 current transformer is designed to work with separately powered relays in SN switchgear. They are available in several accuracy classes, ensuring very precise measurement. The devices are specially designed to work with Woodward SEG WIC1, ABB REJ603, and Schneider MiCOM P114S relays.
SVR109 Current Transformer
The SVR109 current transformer is intended to work with separately powered relays in SN switchgear. They are available in several accuracy classes, ensuring very precise measurement. The secondary winding terminals are routed out of the housing via cables terminated with FKCVR 2.5/4-ST Phoenix Contacts. The devices are specially designed to work with Woodward SEG WIC1, ABB REJ603, and Schneider MiCOM P114S relays.
