GSR - Transformer current transformer

GSR series pass-through current transformers can be used for measurement and protection purposes in generator systems with rated currents up to 15000A. The appropriate air gap between the transformer casing and the busbar allows it to be used in applications with maximum voltages up to 36kV.

The GSR pass-through transformer consists of toroidal cores made of soft ferromagnetic tape packages with high permeability, on which copper wire has been uniformly wound. To increase resistance to large primary currents, special compensating windings have been additionally wound on the cores to reduce the influence of strong external fields. Depending on the customer's request, the housing can contain up to four cores. To ensure appropriate mechanical and electrical strength of the transformers, they are cast in resin, having been previously covered with a polyurethane coating. In the final production phase, each transformer is subjected to routine tests to check product compliance with national and international standards such as VDE, IEC, BS, ANSI, etc.

The transformers are equipped with eight M10/40 mounting sockets. Thanks to their durable construction, they can be used in rooms with very high air temperatures (e.g., generators). They do not require maintenance and can be mounted in any position.

The design of the output terminals can be modified according to the customer's request. In addition, an outdoor version is also available, which is additionally equipped with an aluminum terminal box with an IP54 protection rating. The output terminals are led out from it via a PG16 gland.

Warning: Opening the secondary circuit of a current transformer during operation may cause a sudden voltage spike to extremely high values, which could lead to destruction of the instrument and electric shock to operating personnel.
