Mitsubishi Electric announces new T-series 2.0kV IGBT Modules for Industrial Use

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced the launch of T-series 2.0 kV IGBT Transistor Module for Industrial Use, which is world’s first IGBT>with 2.0 kV withstand voltage.

Modules will increase efficiency and power density of renewable energy power supply systems with DC1500V voltage levels.

The module is designed to increase efficiency and reduce size of renewable energy power converters with ever-growing demand due to increasing use of renewable energy power supplies.

Product Features:

First IGBT 2,0 kV voltage rating for more compact DC1500V power converters

  • World-first IGBT with 2,0 kV maximum voltage appropriate for DC1500V-rated power converters, which can be difficult to design using common 1.7kV IGBTs.
  • Allows for development of simpler and smaller DC1500V power converters without requiring complex topology such as 3-level NPC (I-type connection).

7-th generation IGBT and RFC diodes facilitate reduce power loss in power converters

  • Fitting for high voltage, low-power-losses applications 7-th generation IGBT with CSTBTTM structure and RFC (Relax Field of Cathode) diodes designed to withstand high voltage.

Power semiconductor are used for efficient control of electric power and for that reason they find ever growing range of application and are key devices to help reduce the carbon footprint produced all over the world. Yet power grids that use renewable energy power sources are needed to provide increasingly higher power conversion efficiency through use of higher system voltages. For that reason the power converters with DC1500V rated voltage, the upper limit of the Low Voltage Directive, have been introduced to the market.
In response, Mitsubishi Electric will soon launch the 2.0kV T-series IGBT modules appropriate for DC1500V power converters, which is targeted to help simplify the design and lower the size of aforementioned converters and increase their efficiency.
