A Discussion on Contact System and Slip Ring Transmitter
The contact mechanism of slip ring plays a crucial role carrying out the standard functionality. In fact, the operation of the slip ring is based on the sliding contact mechanism, which is established between the slip ring and brush.

It is the contact system, which to a large extent determines the level of consistency and the integrity in the quality of transmission of any form of signals. Further, it also determines the level of resistance under which the device has to operate.
The quality of transmission also depends on factors like surface quality of the ring, quality of contact materials and design cue incorporated. These elements along with a suitable carbon brush setup make the contact system potent enough to handle any kind of transmission load.
Efficiency factor
The optimal efficiency level of the slip ring is based on the combination of the sliding contact and the surface of the commutator ring. Here, by the term efficiency, we necessarily refer to the quality of transmission of high current signals. As it is the transmission of such signal which tests the strength of the contact system.

A suitable contact system can be really helpful in transmitting high current signal which is devoid of any kind of interference, which could otherwise initiate a signal loss. Further, such a contact system keeps the level of friction to a bare minimum, which in turn reduces the rate of the brush wires wearing out. Thereby, increasing the life of the slip ring.
Composition
The way to enhance the functionality aspect of the contact system applied in any slip ring assembly unit is to include high-quality contact materials.
The high-quality contact materials are generally based on the silver, platinum, and gold, this element provides a considerate level of contact resistance along with the other kinds of mechanical and chemical properties. Further, it also helps to bring down the level of corrosion which is quite crucial in case of equipment which is used in the moist condition.
Slip ring transmitter
A slip ring transmitter basically is devices which finds an application wherever there is a transmission of signals from the stationery to a rotating component as seen in case of any normal slip ring. Be it the electrical, data or power signal.

Application of slip ring transmitter
The slip ring transmitter has a long list of application which includes- precision instruments that are mainly used for transmission of data signals, rotating production equipment, cranes and wind generators. Now, this was the traditional application of slip ring transmitters, but there are some other interesting applications, which includes Robotics, medical equipment, and satellite communication.
Slip rings are not just about contact mechanism between the slip ring and brush. There is newer kind of slip rings which does not involve any actual contact and they are commonly termed as brushless or wireless slip ring. Having said the majority of application involves contact based slip rings.
